Welcome to our newsletter on strategies for aging positively. Here we investigate, discuss, and challenge attitudes towards aging.
As Albert Einstein said, "We Act As Though Comfort And Luxury Were The Chief Requirements Of Life, When All That We Need To Make Us Happy Is Something To Be Enthusiastic About!"
... This is something that we ALL need to consider at any stage in life.
I came across this quote recently, and was so impressed by it that I decided to make it the "Mission Statement" for this, my newsletter on positive aging. It has occurred to me over the years, that as we get older (and especially as we go into retirement) that we may think that if we have good income and all the comforts of life then that's enough... we will live out the rest of our days in luxurious contentment.
Experience has taught me that this is not always the case, as there are numerous examples of people who have achieved great things in their lives only to then spend their retirement years in misery.
Einstein was right, All we need is something to be enthusiastic about.
As aging positivists we need to ask ourselves this question... "Why is it that when we retire some of us just stop living, and yet others say they have never been busier and happier in their lives?"
Obviously the latter group have found something to be enthusiastic about!
So, what is it that you ARE... or WERE (or could become) enthusiastic about, now that you have retired? Think about this.
Until next time.
